Fashion & lifestyle shots 2000-2014

It's been a long long while since I've posted. So in order to make up for my lack luster web presence I will be releasing similar images in collections. Today's offering will be semi-pro/professional pictures, with a thought or two about the image. Enjoy!

I honestly don't remember which "Being ______" this was
called. The disconection in the hair line both in cut and color
still work for me. The rest of the image is not that awesome.
Fun fact: this model also did runway in Europe for YSL.

It feels really dated to me, but I'll always love a good beehive.

elementary & jr. high. Complete with crunchy hair and brown lip liner...

"Miss Indie Anne"
Hair/Make-Up: Desi Houghton
Styling: Kathia Echeverria
Photography: Melody Bachman
The shoot was a blast, although I much prefer to be behind the
scenes. I can't seem to grasp posing WHILE smiling, lol. I looked
like someone murdered my only friend in front of me, the whole shoot.
Melody and Kathia were champs, helping me look the best an unphotogenic
gal could!

Fun! The whole salon got into it! We did each other up
in the hope our photos would win styling tools for the salon,
and Margeaux did!

Thanks for joining me on this little saunter down memory lane..

Dry Hair?

Dry Hair?

There are tons of solutions.. I like Bumble & Bumble Creme de Coco Masque...

Iv been using this maque since its debut with great results. There are two ways to enjoy, either at home or as a in salon treatment.

For about 25 bucks for 5 oz. you can get about 10 treatments out of the tube (thats from personal experiance) costing you about $2.50 each time. I put in the treatment (concentrating the product where it's most needed, usually the mid length an ends) before i do my housekeeping. Get hair outta the way with a clippie, put a shower cap on (the plastic retains the heat, helping ingredients to penetrait deeper) and rinse when im done with my chores.

Or you can come into Salon POP and treat yourself to a luxury scalp massage, a hot towel wrap (either under a dryer or at the shampoo bowl, depending on level of dehydration), and a beautiful blowout for $55 (only $25 if combined with other services such as a haircut or coloring). So for beautiful, shiny, soft, bouncy hair Creme de Coco is the answer..
Desi @ Salon POP 562.987.9200

What:An indulgent masque with a trio of tropical butters which bestows intensive moisture, softness, silkiness and gloss.
Who: Ideal for dry or dull hair, but good for all types (except super-fine); especially coconut lovers and island hoppers; color compatible.

When: Once a week (or as often as you like); following Creme de Coco Shampoo.

How: After washing with Creme de Coco Shampoo, squeeze a generous amount into palm and work through clean, wet hair; leave on for 7-10 minutes (or longer); for added moisture, wrap in a warm towel or sit in the sunshine (you can even leave it in overnight).

New Years Resolution: Save The Trees!

Haircoloring techniques are constantly evolving. In the realm of dimensional coloring, balayage is quikly becoming the most sought after highlighting service. Million foil highlights that leave you looking like a satellite are a practice of the past. Balayage creates a beautiful, soft, and natural look.

So what IS balayage? Its a french technique developed sometime in the 1970's, its literal translation is "to sweep", which describes how color is applied to hair creating a sun kissed halo of colors.. Unlike traditional highlighting (which uses foil to contain color), balayage is painted by hand in a sweeping motion which moves from the base to the tip of the hair. At the base, the color is applied very lightly, while at the tip, the color is very heavy. As hair grows out, the root will be concealed for the first few months by the thinner color applied to the base of the hair. Which means less trips to the salon for touch ups.

Balayage isn't just for blondes either.... It's a technique that can be used on brunettes and redheads alike!

So save an aluminum tree, give balayage a try.

Bad weather doesn’t have to mean a bad hair day! Follow these easy tips to prepare yourself for what Mother Nature might throw at you (and your hair!) :
-Apply a frizz-fighting serum to towel-dried hair (I reccomend Bumble&Bumble DeFrizz). Use a wide tooth comb to evenly distribute.-Blowdry using a large round brush this smooths the cuticle from root to tip.-Flat Iron in sections to make your locks more resilient against humidity.-Use a headband or pull hair into a low bun for the commute. This prevents your hair from getting windblown on the way to your destination.-When you get indoors, let your hair down and admire your soft, shiny style!
