Haircoloring techniques are constantly evolving. In the realm of dimensional coloring, balayage is quikly becoming the most sought after highlighting service. Million foil highlights that leave you looking like a satellite are a practice of the past. Balayage creates a beautiful, soft, and natural look. So what IS balayage? Its a french technique developed sometime in the 1970's, its literal translation is "to sweep", which describes how color is applied to hair creating a sun kissed halo of colors.. Unlike traditional highlighting (which uses foil to contain color), balayage is painted by hand in a sweeping motion which moves from the base to the tip of the hair. At the base, the color is applied very lightly, while at the tip, the color is very heavy. As hair grows out, the root will be concealed for the first few months by the thinner color applied to the base of the hair. Which means less trips to the salon for touch ups.

Balayage isn't just for blondes either.... It's a technique that can be used on brunettes and redheads alike!

So save an aluminum tree, give balayage a try.
